Among serial killers, Israel Keyes is an enigma. Once in custody, however, he confessed to other murders and bank robberies and alluded to many more crimes. He ultimately claimed to have killed up to 11 victims between 2001 and 2012, but couldn't - or wouldn't - tell the authorities exactly when and where. He told them enough, however, for them to take him seriously. Then, in December 2012, after nine months in custody, he killed himself, taking his secrets with him to the grave.

Earth Summit Mission: Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research Team

"Earth Summit Mission" is the first 4K documentary recording a scientific expedition. The 60-minute Earth Summit Mission documentary is a record of the second Chinese scientific expedition to Mount Qomolangma which took place in the summer of 2022. It involved around 200 scientists, led by Yao Tandong from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the course of the expedition, the scientists set a number of records, from collecting ice and snow samples from the highest point on Earth and setting up the world’s highest weather station, to sending up an observation aerostat to an altitude of over 9,000 meters.

Un film documentario sperimentale tedesco girato a Berlino da Walter Ruttmann nel settembre del 1927, che descrive una giornata nella grande metropoli tedesca, che proprio in quegli annii stava vivendo un grande boom industriale, e permette di dare uno sguardo alle abitudini di vita e di lavoro di quei tempi. L'idea di Ruttman era quella rappresentare la metropoli berlinese come un organismo vivente: il regista vedeva un'analogia tra la vita della città, dal lento risveglio della città alla frenesia del giorno fino al progressivo spegnimento serale, e l'andamento di una sinfonia.

La pantera delle nevi

Documentario girato sull'altopiano tibetano, un habitat selvaggio dove vivono animali rari. Il fotografo naturalista Vincent Munier, accompagnato dal romanziere Sylvain Tesson, esplora queste valli impervie alla ricerca della pantera delle nevi, non solo uno dei più grandi felini esistenti, ma anche uno dei più rari e difficili da avvistare. Il viaggio che compiono i due uomini è una sorta di percorso mistico, che li poterà a chiedersi quale sia davvero il loro posto nel mondo e li porrà di fronte al loro stesso io, quello radicato nelle profondità della loro coscienza. Nel bel mezzo degli altipiani del Tibet, Tesson arriva a chiedersi se davvero ogni cosa su questo pianeta sia stata creata per essere vista dall'uomo o se, in questo come in altri casi, l'essere umano potesse fare a meno di guardare e, peggio ancora, intervenire, compromettendo la maestosità di questo posto, che rischia di andare distrutto per sempre.

Sotto le stelle fredde

Girato tra le montagne della Carnia, dove il regista ha trascorso molto tempo tra il 2015 e il 2016 per seguire e riprendere la vita di alcuni abitanti di quei luoghi, il film può apparentemente sembrare un documentario osservativo sulla vita in montagna e indubbiamente si tratta anche di questo. Ma il microcosmo della Carnia su cui si focalizza il film risulta essere il riflesso di una realtà piú ampia e forse un espediente per parlare della vita dell’uomo, del suo rapporto con gli animali, la natura e soprattutto con il tempo. Come ne ha scritto Franco Piavoli: "un film che essenzialmente si affida alle immagini e al suono, ove appunto anche le parole sono suoni e musica della vita e del tempo che scorre ininterrottamente."
