Il gendarme e gli extraterrestri

Testimone dell'avvistamento di un disco volante, il maresciallo Cruchot (De Funès) tenta invano di diffondere l'allarme tra la popolazione e le autorità di Saint Tropez. L'unico a credergli è il vecchio gendarme Ludovic che in passato ha avuto un'esperienza analoga. Egli sa che gli alieni, capaci di mutare aspetto al punto da riuscire indistinguibili da coloro che incrociano, si mescoleranno ben presto tra la gente per far provvista di oli minerali, necessari alla loro sopravvivenza: se battendo sulla pancia di una persona si ricava un suono simile a quello di una tanica vuota, si può star certi di trovarsi di fronte ad un alieno che non ha ancora fatto rifornimento. Il caparbio Cruchot inizia la sua crociata contro gli invasori, ma le difficoltà gli si presentano subito poiché nella stessa gendarmeria c'è già il suo doppio pronto a scatenare la confusione
