The Anonymous Heroes

A perennial Chang Cheh favorite, Anonymous Heroes focuses on two vagabond brothers, Meng Kang and Tieh who, in the search for fame and fortune, join in a rebellion against a provincial general. Used to shaking down local vendors for food and gambling away their limited funds, they are recruited by a local rebel leader who promises them a glorious adventure. The rebels plan is to steal a huge cache of new rifles set to be delivered to the barracks of the local army. With the help of an officer's daughter, their plan starts out well, but inevitably slips toward a heroic but tragic finale.

All'inizio del XII secolo, in Cina infuria la guerra tra la dinastia Sung e i 108 ribelli che vivono nelle montagne. L'arrivo delle truppe imperiali del feroce generale Shih preoccupa Sfera d'Oro, il capo dei riottosi, che si rivolge al maestro di arti marziali Lu per carpire tutti i segreti e le tecniche di lotta che costui ha insegnato al rivale. Il maestro, però, viene catturato e imprigionato e Drago d'Oro è costretto a reclutare tutti i compagni per correre in suo soccorso e vendicare l'ingiustizia subita.

Il giovane viene erudito dal mendicante nel particolarissimo Kung-Fu Emozionale ed infine si vendica uccidendo Unicorno ed i suoi due spadaccini, al termine d'una serie di combattimenti drammatici ma anche comici, nei quali la tecnica è quella di esasperare e disorientare l'avversario con reazioni emotive bizzarre e contrarie a quelle che il nemico si attende.
