Antoinette è un'insegnante di Parigi che ha una relazione con il padre di una sua alunna. Lasciata sola dall'amante, che in estate non può esimersi dall'accompagnare moglie e figlia nelle Cévennes, catena montuosa nel sud della Francia, Antoinette decide di recarsi anche lei nelle località di vacanza e qui provare a insediare l'uomo che ama. In attesa del suo arrivo, passa le giornate facendo lunghe escursioni in compagnia di un asino chiamato Patrick e poco alla volta si affezione al luogo e alla propria indipendenza. L'incontro con la famiglia dell'uomo e le inevitabili tensioni della situazione la aiuteranno a dare un nuovo senso alla sua vita.

Con l'aiuto di Monté Carlo e Callista, due ex giustizieri, faranno di tutto per fermare il traffico ma il complicato passato di Moreau renderà la missione tutt'altro che facile.

Adrien era un uomo felice, un po’ cinico e burbero forse, ma felice. Finché Sonia, la sua fidanzata, non gli ha chiesto la fatidica “pausa”. Dopo settimane di snervante silenzio non riesce a trattenersi e le manda un messaggio, ma la trepida attesa di una replica, che forse potrebbe rimettere in ordine la sua vita, coincide con un evento tremendo: un’interminabile e noiosa cena in famiglia in cui gli viene chiesto di fare un discorso al matrimonio della sorella. Bobby Thompson, un agente assicurativo, ex veterano della guerra del Vietnam, che conduce una vita apparentemente tranquilla, dopo un banale diverbio uccide la sua giovane moglie, la madre e il ragazzo delle consegne nella propria casa. Successivamente inizia un tiro a segno nascosto sulla cima di una posizione sopraelevata, uccidendo e ferendo vari autisti, motociclisti e passanti. Quando arriva la polizia, l'uomo cambia postazione ed arriva in un drive-in, in cui continua a sparare alla gente, ferendo diversi spettatori. L'unico che tenta di affrontarlo è Byron Orlok.
