Box

Box is a story of two people who meet at a crossroad. Two different destinies, two different lives, face to face in a game of sweat, blood and tears. Rafael (19) is a young boxer who dreams to conquer the world; Cristina (33) is a single mother who lost her balance. Two lives; one running very close to the earth, the other trying to fly high up, too high.

Vizontele Tuuba

Guner Sernikli is a government official who, with his wife and their wheelchair bound daughter, has been assigned as the head librarian to this isolated province, virtually an exile since there is no library in the village. The family is warmly welcome, but these are the years of political anarchy and leftist/rightist clashes in big cities and the youth of the village inevitably follow the tides. They arrive in Vizontele, just as the situation is becoming really absurd. Guner brings wisdom; his daughter Tuba brings beauty, innocence and love. Some like the Mayor, Nazmi Dogan and crazy Emin appreciate these things but they are in the minority and confusion continues to reign. The story is based on the memories of writer-director Yılmaz Erdoğan of the last summer of his childhood in Hakkâri, Turkey in 1980.

Tra le varie interviste ce n'è anche una fatta al figlio Brandon.

Il terrore di Frankenstein

La storia riprende da dove si era interrotta quella de Il figlio di Frankenstein. Ygor, miracolosamente sopravvissuto allo scontro precedente, ritrova il Mostro in una grotta, liberandolo dal blocco di zolfo dove era incastrato. Ludwig, il secondogenito di Henry Frankenstein, decide quindi di riparare all'errore del padre e di dare alla creatura un nuovo cervello. L'idea è quella di utilizzare il cervello di Fritz, primo assistente del padre e ucciso dal mostro, ma Ygor si offre volontario per potersi unire alla creatura alla quale è legato. Lo scienziato si rifiuta, ma un suo collega vuole invece farlo, convinto anche dal diabolico Ygor. Il cervello di Ygor viene così trasferito nel corpo del Mostro, e si rivela subito malvagio e inizia a commettere crimini e omicidi. Alla fine però, dopo essersi confrontato con Ludwing e Erik Ernst, il Mostro brucerà vivo nel laboratorio in fiamme.

L'arte di arrangiarsi

Arrestato per truffa, il catanese Rosario Scimoni, detto Sasà, rievoca le tappe della sua vita di trasformista dal 1912 al 1953: complice della mafia, socialista, interventista e poi pacifista, fascista fervente, iscritto al PCI e, dopo il '48, alla DC. Scarcerato, fonda il partito degli ex carcerati. In un certo senso è il film postumo del siciliano Vitaliano Brancati che morì nel 1954 a 47 anni, grave perdita per la letteratura erotico-satirica, il teatro e il cinema italiano. È anche il vero atto di nascita del 35enne Sordi come maschera emblematica in una commedia il cui titolo riassume nel bene e nel male il vanto e la vergogna dell'italiano medio. Pur smussando nei risvolti patetici l'acre moralismo di Brancati che gli aveva già fornito i copioni di Anni difficili e Anni facili, la regia di Zampa va egualmente a segno, grazie anche a Sordi che la fa da padrone. Pronto alla fine del '54, uscì nella primavera del 1955 dopo tagli di censura.
