A bookshop renowned for its rare works is mysteriously and filled with copies of a book entitled 1, which doesn't appear to have a publisher or author. The strange almanac describes what happens to humanity in a minute. A police investigation begins and the bookshop staff are placed in solitary confinement by the Bureau for Paranormal Research. Tokyo Decadence

Ai è una ragazza squillo per una agenzia di accompagnatrici di Tokyo. Tramite i suoi occhi, Murakami accompagna lo spettatore in un opprimente labirinto di perdizione cresciuto all'ombra della bubble economy. Uomini d'affari e impiegati frustrati si sfogano nel sesso a pagamento e nel sadomasochismo. La spropositata quanto ansiogena «ricchezza senza dignità» (come la definirà una collega di Ai) accumulata dal Paese, è pronta a rovesciarsi nella rovinosa recessione degli anni novanta. In Italia il film è distribuito da Lucky Red, in una versione accorciata di circa 30 minuti (da 135 a 92 minuti).

Estasi degli angeli

Un gruppo di attivisti anarchici, in nome della lotta personale, entra in conflitto con gli alti gradi del loro movimento anti-istituzionale incominciando una guerra personale contro tutto e tutti. La cellula è composta da quattro membri (il gruppo di "Ottobre"), ridotta di numero a causa di uno scontro a fuoco, con la perdita della vista del loro capo. Qualcosa è cambiato nel movimento principale: la moderazione come prima cosa, disciplina e staticità... ma la cellula in questione non cederà e continuerà la propria lotta personale coi propri mezzi pressoché nulli.
