San Francisco filmmaker Konrad Steiner took 12 years to complete a montage cycle set to the late Leslie Scalapino’s most celebrated poem, way—a sprawling book-length odyssey of shardlike urban impressions, fraught with obliquely felt social and sexual tensions. Six stylistically distinctive films for each section of way, using sources ranging from Kodachrome footage of sun-kissed S.F. street scenes to internet clips of the Iraq war to a fragmented Fred Astaire dance number.

Box

Box is a story of two people who meet at a crossroad. Two different destinies, two different lives, face to face in a game of sweat, blood and tears. Rafael (19) is a young boxer who dreams to conquer the world; Cristina (33) is a single mother who lost her balance. Two lives; one running very close to the earth, the other trying to fly high up, too high.

However, on the flight to Russia, he is able to escape with a parachute, and finds himself back in Poland, now occupied by Nazis.

Un maggiordomo quasi perfetto

Topolino si sveglia e Pluto, come un maggiordomo, gli porta la colazione a letto. Poi Topolino lo manda a comprare il giornale, dandogli una moneta da mezzo dollaro e dicendogli di non perderla. Pluto però fa cadere la moneta in un tombino, ma riesce a recuperarla usando la coda e una gomma da masticare. Dopo aver comprato il giornale, deve lottare contro il vento che glielo porta via. Il giornale ormai disfatto finisce in una pozza di fango, e Pluto ci si tuffa per recuperarlo. Quando ne emerge assomiglia a una donna di colore (scena che Pluto aveva visto poco prima sul giornale in una striscia a lui dedicata). Pluto torna a casa e si getta sul letto di Topolino con un mucchio di fogli infangati. Davanti alla faccia arrabbiata del suo padrone, Pluto scoppia a piangere dispiaciuto, ma Topolino si mette a ridere e lo perdona con tante coccole.
