Non va bene quasi a nessuno. Sergio Citti, alla sua terza regia dopo le collaborazioni con Pasolini, propone uno spaccato, tutt'altro che roseo, di umanità e di comportamenti. L'ispirazione c'è, molte trovate sono abili, il ritmo è buono.

Un'organizzazione guidata da un capo spietato 'trasferisce' le proprie vittime trent'anni indietro dove un killer (detto 'looper' traducibile in 'uomo che si occupa del cerchio') lo attende per eliminarlo e farne sparire il cadavere. Joe è un looper che risparmia ciò che guadagna in questo mestiere per alimentare il sogno di potersi trasferire in Francia. Ma dal futuro è iniziata una nuova campagna: tutti i looper ancora presenti sul territorio nel 2074 vanno spediti trent'anni indietro perché vengano uccisi. Alla festa del diploma, ritrova il fidanzato Dan (Danny Hassel), al quale rivela l’incubo. Dan la conforta ricordandole che se lei non rimaterializzerà Krueger (Robert Englund) non ci saranno problemi. Ma Alice sogna la nascita di Freddy a opera di Amanda Krueger (Beatrice Boepples). E benché cerchi di impedirlo, è testimone del riformarsi del mostro, che torna in azione più potente di prima. Per sconfiggerlo, Alice dovrebbe trovare i resti di Amanda, nella torre.
