These children are constantly busy, pasting propaganda posters on walls, distributing hand bills, exhorting all to "buy from the cooperative" as opposed to the Public Sector, promoting temperance, and helping poor widows. Experimental portions of the film, projected in reverse, feature the un-slaughtering of a bull and the un-baking of bread.

Lasciato solo con i due vecchi, il ragazzino si fa conquistare. Scene di un vecchio matrimonio senza risparmio di commozione. Potrebbe essere un film di Bergman in vena sentimentale, riveduto da Marino Moretti e corretto da Carlo Cassola. Per gli spettatori di pelo grigio è, nella sua commistione di realtà e finzione, un film intrigante: come non pensare che i dialoghi tra Norman Thayer e la figlia Chelsea potrebbero corrispondere ai veri rapporti tra Henry e Jane Fonda? Come non vedere dietro il burbero Fonda l'ombra di Spencer Tracy e che l'irosa sopportazione della decadenza senile potrebbe coincidere (ma non in Italia) con quella dei due attori?

Auto Focus

Una star televisiva di successo negli anni '60, l'ex attore di "Hogan's Heroes" Bob Crane proietta un'immagine sana di uomo di famiglia, ma questo fronte maschera il suo personaggio di tossicodipendente che registra e fotografa i suoi numerosi incontri con le donne, spesso con l'aiuto del suo squallido amico, John Henry Carpenter. Questo dramma biografico rivela come la doppia vita di Crane si ripercuota su lui e sulla sua famiglia e alla fine contribuisce alla sua morte.

El Dorado

Dal romanzo The Stars in Their Courses di Harry Brown. Uno sceriffo che s'è dato al bere per una pena d'amore deve far fronte a un allevatore tanto ricco quanto prepotente. Si fa dare una mano da un suo vecchio aiutante, da uno sbarbatello e da un arzillo vecchietto. Il penultimo film di Hawks – prima di Rio Lobo (1970) – è una variazione sui temi e i personaggi di Un dollaro d'onore (1959), basata su una sceneggiatura scritta da Leigh Brackett, sua collaboratrice fin dai tempi di Il grande sonno (1946). Non è né una ripetizione né una parodia, ma semmai un'elegia sui vecchi tempi, sorvegliata dall'angelo custode dell'ironia. Per Hawks anche gli eroi invecchiano, ma lo sanno e non nascondono le proprie infermità dell'anima e del corpo.
