Fondata nel 1969 dal produttore Manfred Eicher, la ECM ha pubblicato un migliaio di album abbracciando generi musicali diversi, dal jazz alla musica antica e contemporanea, a musiche di varia provenienza geografica. Dopo aver costruito i primi successi ed essere arrivata alla notorietà in ambito jazz con gli album di musicisti come Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Paul Bley, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny e l'Art Ensemble of Chicago, l'etichetta bavarese ha infatti cominciato ad includere, nel suo catalogo, alla fine degli anni '70, la composizione contemporanea.In un'ora e mezza sfilano musicisti e paesaggi di diverse parti del mondo: solo un piccolo assaggio della incredibile quantità di artisti che incidono per l'etichetta di Eicher. In particolare ci si sofferma su Arvo Pärt, Eleni Karaindrou, Dino Saluzzi, Anouar Brahem, Gianluigi Trovesi, Marilyn Mazur, Nik Bärtsch, Kim Kashkashian e Jan Garbarek.

Marie then takes a job in a northern suburb and their lives are forever changed. The racetrack is near her work; Marie is enthralled by the racers and their fast machines. Along with her new boyfriend, a racer, Marie begins riding herself. She then moves out of her mother's flat, leaving Jeanne bereft of companionship and a purpose in her life. Her silent, deeply internalized grief eventually drives her completely mad.

At the start of the story, both Liu Bei, its eventual protagonist, and Cao Cao, its eventual antagonist, are minor players. Liu Bei is striving to find a way to bring order to a chaotic world. As he puzzles he way toward the correct course of action, he befriends two powerful warriors, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu. Together, they take the Oath of the Peach Garden, to live and die together as warriors for justice. Meanwhile, Cao Cao is pondering how to fulfill his destiny as "a hero in a chaotic world or a villain in a peaceful one."
