Per combattere le forze nemiche stanziate nel sud della penisola, il generale MacArthur ordina l'inizio dell'operazione di sbarco di Incheon, dispiegando attacchi diversivi in altre località. Senza vere forze militari di riserva, 772 giovanissimi studenti soldati coreani, appena addestrati, vengono inviati a Jangsari Beach, dove affronteranno un destino eroico e scopriranno il valore dell'amicizia. Quando il maestro torna in sala, è scoppiato il Sessantotto: urla, berci, slogan contro il potere e le istituzioni, scritte eversive finché un'enorme palla d'acciaio sfonda un muro tra polvere e detriti. Laceri e impauriti, gli orchestrali ricominciano la prova, guidati dal direttore che ora parla in tedesco. Apologo estetico? Parabola etica e civile? Allegoria politica sulla società italiana? Il filmetto (Fellini dixit) si prestò a queste e ad altre interpretazioni.
