Decalogo 10

Artur e Jerzy sono due fratelli molto diversi fra loro: il primo è serio, posato e padre di famiglia; il secondo è uno spirito ribelle, cantante rock e scapestrato. I due si ritroveranno, dopo due anni, per il funerale del loro padre. Quando però a visitare la casa del genitore, fanno una singolare scoperta: l'uomo viveva da anni in estrema povertà, eppure trovano centinaia e centinaia di francobolli in un armadio. Quando cercano di venderli per guadagnare qualcosa, fanno una scoperta ancor più incredibile: nel corso di 30 anni di vita il padre ha messo insieme una collezione che vale centinaia di milioni.

At the same time, very strange visitors constantly come to Holmes, and on the table he has portraits of personalities of a disgusting appearance.

Majka è una giovane ragazza che sembra vivere una situazione tesa in famiglia. La madre Ewa la tratta male, ed il padre Stefan è pressoché assente. Inoltre c'è la sorellina Ania, con cui sembra avere un rapporto migliore. Un giorno Majka raccoglie tutto il coraggio di cui è capace e rapisce la piccola Ania da una recita scolastica. Ewa si dispera, ma non riesce a trovare le due figlie. Una volta al sicuro, Majka rivela ad Ania di essere in realtà sua madre, non sua sorella.

Using almost no dialogue, the film follows a number of residents (both human and animal) of a small rural community in Hungary – an old man with hiccups, a shepherdess and her sheep, an old woman who may or may not be up to no good, some folk-singers at a wedding, etc. While most of the film is a series of vignettes, there is a sinister and often barely perceptible subplot involving murder.
