The Girl's House

Tomorrow is Samira's wedding ceremony and Bahar and Parisa are shopping excitedly. But at night somebody calls and tells them that the bride is dead and the wedding has been called off. They are both shocked and they cannot believe what they have heard, so they go straight to their friend's fiancé, Mansoor, to find out about the cause of her suspicious death.

2 years ago, during Akram's engagement party, her father is killed in a fight with one of the groom's close relatives. Currently, the murderer's execution date is coming up and Akram, her sister, and her two brothers have to confirm the execution request. However, a recent event has made three of them reconsider the request; a decision that is strongly opposed by Salim, Akram's vengeful brother.

I'm Coming Up

Ting’s first feature is a monumental documentation of a large-scale HDB (Housing and Development Board) flat in Jurong by portrayal of its corridors and interior balconies. The film seamlessly scales the building from bottom to top, traversing every available 'public' space in its ascent. Shot just before sunrise with few inhabitants to be seen, the film becomes solely occupied with the interplay between camera and architecture – the shifting tones, lights and shapes that emerge from movement. The soundtrack is derived from a live performance by Balbalab during the world premiere of the film at the Singapore International Film Festival on 28 November 2016. Balbalab is a collective of experimental musicians from Singapore exploring a variety of strategies toward electroacoustic improvisation. Their sonorous response uses field recordings mined from the same HDB block and then cut up, processed, and reassembled.

One day, An Sheng got lost in the woods and accidentally broke into a maze set up by a snake spirit, where he unfortunately died. In order to repay her kindness, Hua Gu Zi killed the snake spirit and saved An Sheng. "The Third Lady of Lotus": Teacher Zong Xiangruo loved lotus very much, but he accidentally married a fox girl who had cultivated into a spirit. The fox girl was suppressed by the wandering monk and was imprisoned. Zong Xiangruo couldn't bear to see the fox girl suffer, so he begged the monk to release the fox girl. In order to repay Zong Xiangruo, the fox girl led Zong Xiangruo to find the Third Lady of Lotus, whom he had been dreaming about, and facilitated a beautiful marriage.

They chose serene temple locations and vibrant cultural elements to bring the video to life, ensuring it conveyed the essence of devotion and harmony. When the video was finally completed, it was a masterpiece of devotion and creativity. As they watched the final cut together, Ram smiled and said, "This video isn't just about the gods; it's about faith, friendship, and trusting in goodness.
