Al Festival di Berlino 2002 fu presentata una edizione restaurata (Director's Cut) e allungata di oltre 20´.

La Forza del destino, in questa nuova produzione della Royal Opera House, vede il soprano russo Anna Netrebko nel ruolo di Leonora, il tenore tedesco Jonas Kaufmann nella parte del suo amante Don Alvaro e il baritono francese Ludovic Tézier nel ruolo del fratello di lei, Don Carlo di Vargas. L’opera costituisce una delle più ambiziose partiture di Verdi, con arie intense come quella cantata da Leonora ‘Pace, pace, mio dio’, estasianti ensemble e cori commoventi come il ‘Rataplan’, durante l’Atto III.
