This new production of Bellinis Norma by Jürgen Rose (sets, costumes, stage direction, and lighting) to honor Edita Gruberovas first staged assumption of the title role was taped in January and February of 2006 in Munich. It does neither the opera nor the soprano any favors. In most ways, its a pretty gloomy affair.

Splendide immagini, due grandi interpreti. 8 Oscar: film, regia, sceneggiatura, attore, costumi, suono, trucco, scenografia. Non tenendo conto che, in fondo, è un Mozart visto da Salieri i molti mozartiani di stretta osservanza hanno eccepito sulla fedeltà storica, specialmente sulle libertà prese per la genesi del Requiem, ma avrebbero da lamentarsi di più i pochi ammiratori di Salieri. Al Festival di Berlino 2002 fu presentata una edizione restaurata (Director's Cut) e allungata di oltre 20´.

Tosca

Nel 1800 in Roma, governata dalla Regina di Napoli, fugge da Castel S. Angelo un prigioniero politico. Il prefetto di polizia Scarpia deve ad ogni costo rintracciarlo, perché la regina è furente. Egli sospetta che il fuggiasco sia nascosto dal pittore Cavaradossi, anch'egli di idee rivoluzionarie; e risvegliando la gelosia della cantante Floria Tosca, amata dal pittore si fa guidare dalla donna stessa in un recondito rifugio del Cavaradossi. Sottoponendo a tortura il Cavaradossi, Scarpia ottiene da Tosca di conoscere dove il fuggiasco è nascosto. Cavaradossi è condannato a morte e Tosca crede di avere ottenuto dallo Scarpia una fucilazione simulata del pittore. Quando, però, Scarpia pretende dalla donna il prezzo del mercato, Tosca lo uccide. Corre poi ad assistere alla esecuzione di Cavaradossi, che - contrariamente alle promesse di Scarpia - è effettuata senza simulazione. Nella sua disperazione la donna si precipita dagli spalti di Castel S. Angelo.
