Dopo aver smascherato 'l'istituzione' fast-food con "Super Size Me", Morgan Spurlock torna con un documentario che punta il dito sull'industria cinematografica. Dietro la facciata di sceneggiatori creativi, attori passionali e registi impeccabili, ci sono compagnie di produzione dette 'Brands', i marchi, che pubblicizzano, rendono appetibile e piazzano il film sul mercato alla stregua di un qualsiasi altro prodotto di consumo di massa. D'altronde, di questo si tratta quando c'è di mezzo la parola industria. Con il suo piglio demistificante, Spurlock si addentra nel settore intervistando figure di spicco, talvolta iper-sorridenti, talvolta imbarazzate, per mostrarne i tratti più amaramente comici.
