Rumori fuori scena

Una compagnia piuttosto scalcinata la notte che precede il debutto si mette a provare per la prima volta il suo nuovo spettacolo. È soltanto il primo atto e ci vuole molta pazienza, tra interruzioni varie, isterie e liti, per arrivare alla fine. La sera della prima le cose continuano sullo stesso tono, ma questa volta seguiamo quel che capita dietro le quinte. E quello è solo il secondo atto. Bogdanovich prende un originale testo teatrale dell'inglese Michael Frayn, si assicura un cast insuperabile e realizza una farsaccia deliziosa, con attori in vena.

Non mangiate le margherite

Larry (David Niven) scrive di teatro per un grande quotidiano di New York; sua moglie (Doris Day) ha il suo bel da fare con i loro quattro figli. Sono tutte rose e fiori (margherite) finché la severità del critico comincia ad attirargli dei guai. I suoi lontani tentativi come autore, non esaltanti, gli complicano ulteriormente le cose.
