Six Hours: Surviving Typhoon Yolanda

In the middle of a broadcast about Typhoon Yolanda's initial impact, reporter Jiggy Manicad was faced with the reality that he no longer had communication with his station. They were, for all intents and purposes, stranded in Tacloban. With little option, and his crew started the six hour walk to Alto, where the closest broadcast antenna was to be found. Letting the world know what was happening to was a priority, but they were driven by the need to let their families and friends know they were all still alive. Along the way, they encountered residents and victims of the massive typhoon, and with each step it became increasingly clear just how devastating this storm was. This was a storm that was going to change lives.

Kaziuk, a stubborn peasant and his pregnant wife live in a backwood village, unaffected by the civilization. The village is once visited by a couple of wanderers, and strange things start to happen afterward. A new schoolteacher is sent to the area. She stirs erotic fantasies in Kaziuk. In a stir of frustration Kaziuk cuts down a family tree - a sacrilegious act in the eyes of his family. Going a step further and using a scythe for cutting the rye instead of a sickle brings the whole village against him.

WWE Armageddon 2008

Armageddon (2008) was a PPV presented by Ubisoft's Prince of Persia. It took place on December 14, 2008 at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York. It featured professional wrestlers and other talent from all WWE's three brands: Raw, SmackDown and ECW. It was the ninth and final event within the Armageddon chronology. During the SmackDown main event, WWE Champion Edge defended the title against Triple H and Jeff Hardy in a Triple Threat match. The Raw main event featured the World Heavyweight Championship contested in a singles match between champion John Cena and Chris Jericho. The undercard featured several matches, including CM Punk against Rey Mysterio in the finals of a tournament to determine the number-one contender to the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and Randy Orton versus Batista in a standard wrestling match.

Mostefa Ben Boulaïd

The film revolves around the life of the martyr Mustapha Ben Bouleid (1917-1956), who was a member of the Algerian National Movement, who worked with his comrades to explain the idea of the armed revolution in which he led in Aures region in 1954. The film depicts how Ben Bouleid traveled to a number of Arab countries Disguised to bring arms to Algeria for the revolution and how the French colonial forces arrested him in the Tunisian-Libyan border, and from there to Algeria to be sentenced to death.

Roughly chronological, from 3/96 to 11/96, with a coda in spring of 1997: inside compounds of Aum Shinrikyo, a Buddhist sect led by Shoko Asahara. (Members confessed to a murderous sarin attack in the Tokyo subway in 1995.) We see what they eat, where they sleep, and how they respond to media scrutiny, on-going trials, the shrinking of their fortunes, and the criticism of society. Central focus is placed on Hiroshi Araki, a young man who finds himself elevated to chief spokesman for Aum after its leaders are arrested. Araki faces extreme hostility from the Japanese public, who find it hard to believe that most followers of the cult had no idea of the attacks and even harder to understand why these followers remain devoted to the religion, if not the violence.

Before the breakout of the Sino-Japanese War, Hong, Wang, and Peng were best friends. Hong and Wang secretly joined the local guerrillas after the Japanese began invading China. Hong ran a small business and Wang worked as a courier for a Japanese trading firm, hiding their true identities in order to collect intelligence on the Japanese for the Eight Route Army, and established a railway guerrilla unit. Wang soon found out that the trading firm he was working for was indeed an intelligence unit of the Japanese. They infiltrated the Japanese special forces and eliminated many Japanese. Suspicions arise from the Japanese as to the real identity of the individuals suspected of being part of the railway guerrilla forces, so called Flying Tigers unit, so the Japanese began to form a counter-spying operation and other under-handed means by recruiting Chinese traitors to uncover and eliminate them all.

Randy Orton also had to defend his title, the WWE Championship, in a Hell in a Cell against Sheamus. In a special stipulation match, Wade Barrett fought John Cena with the caveat that Cena would join the Nexus if he lost and The Nexus would disband if Barrett lost. Daniel Bryan defended the US Championship in a triple threat submissions count anywhere match against The Miz and John Morrison.

Le riprese mostrano la distruzione delle case e gli abusi subiti dalla comunità palestinese dei territori occupati. Il gruppo di attivisti palestinesi, sostenuto da membri israeliani, documenta la propria lotta contro la missione israeliana. Basel Adra, un giovane palestinese, scopre grazie a questo progetto la possibilità di avere un grande amico israeliano, si tratta del giornalista Yuval Abraham. Un'amicizia che si oppone all'odio distruttivo tra i due popoli.

Un ritratto della quotidianità nella Striscia di Gaza, dove una popolazione di circa due milioni di persone conduce la propria routine, nonostante i segni visibili lasciati dal perenne conflitto. È difficile immaginare uno spaccato di normalità a Gaza, spesso definita una prigione a cielo aperto, e che torna alla ribalta delle cronache solo quando sale la tensione tra Israele e Hamas. I registi del film hanno scelto di mostrare una Gaza, come raramente si vede: non attraverso le lenti dell’analisi politica, o mettendo in risalto la situazione di conflitto. Hanno scelto, invece, di immergersi nella quotidianità, nella semplicità della vita dei gazawi, cogliendone le sfumature culturali e la ricchezza sociale che ne deriva.

La pellicola narra sotto forma di documentario animato, grazie alla messa in scena di alcuni attori e alla tecnica del rotoscopio, la strage avvenuta nel 1966 ad Austin, in Texas. Le interviste ad alcuni testimoni, la loro narrazione in prima persona e l'utilizzo di alcuni filmati d'epoca rendono il film una narrazione corale, che prende avvio dai primi inaspettati spari dalla torre dell'Università del Texas sino alla morte del responsabile della strage, Charles Whitman, un ex-marine.

L'Olivier

Girato tra il 1973 e il 1975, L'Olivier è stato prodotto dal Vincennes Cinema Group. Questo collettivo attivista di insegnanti e registi, formatosi in occasione di questo film, tenta di spiegare il problema palestinese attraverso interviste. L'Olivier è stato uno dei primi film a tentare di dare sostanza a ciò che in Occidente era ancora largamente ignorato: l'esistenza del popolo palestinese e la sua lotta per recuperare i propri diritti. L'Olivier risponde a una preoccupazione: il già debole sostegno dell'opinione pubblica francese alla causa palestinese è diminuito in seguito all'operazione di Monaco del 1972. Strutturato in modo tale da raccontare la storia palestinese e spiegare lo stato della lotta in quel momento, il film fa appello alla solidarietà militante globale e, in particolare, agli impegni politici europei.

Quando, alla fine degli anni '90, lo studente israeliano Teddy Katz denunciò il massacro di civili palestinesi da parte delle forze israeliane nel villaggio di Tantura, nel maggio 1948, durante la prima guerra arabo-israeliana, fu inizialmente lodato per il suo lavoro pionieristico, ma fu presto diffamato e bollato come traditore. Decenni dopo, sono emerse nuove prove incendiarie che confermano le scoperte di Teddy.
