A male lion, right next to bars that are about 6 or 8 inches apart, keenly watches a uniformed zoo attendant toss small morsels of food into the cage. The lion alternates between finding the food on the cage floor and reaching through the bars to swipe at the man, who stays alarmingly close to the beast. In the background are the large rocks and brick wall at the back of the lion's habitat.

Mammoth

In una sala provvisoria del museo di storia naturale di Blackwater è custodito, all'interno di una struttura gigantesca che ne garantisce l'ibernazione, un mammuth di 40.000 anni fa perfettamente conservato. Un giorno, allontanando due adolescenti curiosi, il professor Abernathy (Vincent Ventresca) si accorge di uno strano oggetto luminescente imprigionato nel ghiaccio insieme all'animale e, usando ogni precauzione possibile, riesce ad estrarlo e a riporto in una fiala. La cosa misteriosa è in realtà una capsula di origine extraterrestre che attiva automaticamente un segnale ad un'astronave in volo nello spazio e richiama a sé un satellite spia. La mattina dopo, il traffico cittadino si blocca improvvisamente - i motori delle automobili e i telefoni si spengono senza ragione apparente - e il museo viene colpito in pieno da quello che sembra un meteorite. Il mammuth riportato in vita dall'UFO massacra il guardiano e fugge all'esterno minacciando una strage.
