Puthiya Mugham

Krishnakumar is a resident of an agraharam in Kalpathi. Along with his studies, he pursues a career as a percussionist and teaches the mridangam to local students. He is in love with a girl—the daughter of a family friend. Their relationship is not only approved, but supported by both families. Kichu moves on to the city of Kochi (Ernakulam) to enroll at an engineering college. The villain - Sudhi - is a senior student and the youngest of three brothers; he pursues a real estate business and routine crimes associated with it. In all his villainous endeavours on the campus he is supported by his brothers.

Linhart has lost his only kidney in the accident; in order to live a normal life again, he will need a kidney transplant from the mugged woman if she dies.

Quest'ultimo, ex leader di un gruppo giovanile paranazista che si riconosceva in Cameron, ideologo della violenza razzista contro ogni forma di diversità, è appena uscito dal carcere dopo aver scontato alcuni anni per l'uccisione di due ragazzi neri che gli stavano rubando l'automobile. Danny aspetta da tempo questo momento. Ha immaginato molte volte la scarcerazione di Derek e non desidera altro che mettersi ai 'suoi ordini'. Non sa che in carcere Derek ha riflettuto molto maturando la convinzione di voler cambiare vita. Danny si sente spaesato, soprattutto quando, durante una festa vede Derek avere uno scontro violento con Cameron, ma poi riesce a capire le ragioni di suo fratello. L'odio, però, a volte genera una serie di violenze difficili da fermare.

Elephant

Il cinema ha spesso rivisitato la cronaca accentuando magari i tratti piu' spettacolari della realtà. Gus Van Sant compie un'operazione analoga ma di segno opposto. Dopo Michael Moore anche Van Sant riflette sulla strage compiuta da due studenti nei confronti di compagni e professori nel liceo di Columbine negli Usa. Lo fa con un film di breve durata in cui si affida a una macchina da presa che pedina alcuni dei protagonisti che diverranno vittime o assassini quasi fosse una candid camera. Ne esce un quadro di desolante vuoto esistenziale, un tunnel che non ha una luce sul fondo. Non c'è più neppure la tragedia. La morte per strage si tinge di banale quotidianità.
