Quattro amici, Melandri, Sassaroli, Necchi e Mascetti, mattacchioni in gioventù, ma ora attempati e acciaccati, con un ritorno di spregiudicata e anacronistica goliardia ritentano le bravate del passato. Lo scherzo più cattivo viene fatto al quarto, il conte Mascetti, vedovo e ridotto sulla sedia a rotelle da una trombosi, che i tre sistemano in una fastosa "Villa Serena", casa di riposo per vecchi danarosi.
