Le Grandi Nord Delle Alpi: Cervino

Le grandi pareti Nord delle Alpi sono state e sono ancora il punto di riferimento, l’esame di maturità per gli scalatori. Furono il terreno sul quale si giocarono gli ultimi fuochi dell’alpinismo “di conquista” in Europa. La Nord del Cervino non era da meno, quanto a difficoltà di scalata su misto e pericolosità, ma fu la prima a cadere, nel 1931, grazie ai fratelli Schmid, esponenti della famosa scuola di Monaco. Franz e Toni, che sarebbe morto l’anno successivo, raggiunsero Zermatt in bicicletta: ben 5 giorni di salite e discese prima di poter affrontare la montagna e i 1200 metri di dislivello della parete nord, esposta alle scariche, sulla quale lottarono per due giorni. Sullo sfondo di questa e di altre imprese storiche, come quella della prima invernale di Walter Bonatti nel 1965, due giovani guide alpine tentano la prima ascesa invernale in una sola giornata.
