McCoy Tyner - Guitars

Il DVD riprende gli artisti in studio, pianoforte è armonia e ritmo con passaggi di interplay, nella miglior tradizione di Tyner; il disegno melodico è lasciato ai solisti della chitarra, che personalizzano i brani. Con Scofield prevale certamente la fusion, con trame a tratti forse troppo prolisse. Con Ribot emerge un carattere più avant, che Tyner compensa con una base tonale chiara. Fleck dà vita a una simbiosi molto interessante, con un banjo non banalmente tradizionale che a volta ricorda il sitar indiano e introduce contaminazioni sonore molto moderne. Frisell introduce timbri quasi “new age”, fluidi, a tratti narcotizzati, basati su arpeggi più che su passaggi melodici; forse è l’artista con cui Tyner riesce a fondersi meglio, riducendo la separazione tra accompagnatore e solista. Con Trucks i brani hanno tutto sommato meno personalità; Greenslaves è un traditional riprodotto in chiave di divagazione divertita.

What happened to the children?

In this documentary we meet five children in Sweden and see what happened in their lives. Robin was nine years old, but he already knew what a prison looked like and the bad a punishment can do. Frida was not yet born when we filmed her mother Angela in 1983. Her sister Malin lived for several years in a foster family. Bosse was 14 years old and in 9th grade when we met him in 1978. He was the only guy in the class who had glasses. Marie received many postcards and letters from her father, but very rarely met him while she was growing up.

Chanti

Chanti (Ravi Teja), a soldier, arrives at his village for his father's (Ranganath) funeral. He is bequeathed a huge property which he plans to use for his blind sister (Revathy). Unfortunately, the land happens to be between two proposed sites for a road in which the local MLA (Atul Kulkarni) has an interest, as it leads to his factory. He offers to buy it from Chanti, who refuses, citing it as a memorial of his father. Chanti's sister is married to Raja Ravindra (Raja Ravindra), Chanti's army friend. However, the MLA kills Raja. The rest of the story is how Chanti avenges his friend's and father's deaths and him getting married to his cousin Vasantha Laxmi (Charmme Kaur).

The Long Wait
