She soon discovers the contents of the work, which Hermann tries to hide from her, and takes on a lawyer to defend her privacy. But this is only the beginning of a mess that simply gets worse and worse, leading to an unexpected, brutal ending.

A immolarsi è il romanziere Yukio Mishima, uno degli intellettuali più conosciuti e apprezzati del Giappone. Attivista di destra e seguace dell'ideologia tradizionale nipponica, Mishima aveva creato un suo personale esercito, il Tatenokai, arruolando i membri tra le fila del movimento studentesco conservatore. E con quattro fedelissimi allievi si era barricato all'interno dell'edificio ministeriale, chiedendo ai militari di supportare la sua lotta per restaurare la società imperiale.
