La vendetta del mostro

Un gruppo di scienziati ritorna nella laguna per catturare il mostro. Nella prima immersione viene aggredito uno studioso che si riesce a salvare. Per catturare la creatura decidono di utilizzare la dinamite; l'operazione riesce e il corpo della creatura viene a galla privo di sensi ma ancora in vita. Il mostro viene portato in un parco marino dove verrà studiato e usato come attrazione turistica. Quando si sveglia diventa un pericolo troppo grande e viene condotto in un'altra vasca e questa volta viene legato. Vengono effettuati dei test su di lui per capire quanto sia sviluppato il suo cervello, ma durante uno di questi si riesce a liberare dalla catena e a scappare. La sua furia provocherà alcune vittime.

I piccoli commercianti sono stati riposti in secondo piano a favore di grandi centri commerciali, e il South Side di Chicago sta dimenticando le proprie radici. Le storie all'interno del negozio stanno cambiando: Jimmy è diventato il portaborse dell'assessore Brown e lo difende ingenuamente credendo che comunque i cambiamenti sono positivi.

Satyricon

La vicenda è ambientata durante il regno dell'imperatore romano Nerone. Due giovanetti, Encolpio e Ascilto, devono recarsi in casa dello zio Anneo Mela per un invito a cena con delle cortigiane. I ragazzi si imbarcano, ma durante il viaggio finiscono nella cava della strega Triferna, dedita a riti macabri in onore di una divinità oscura e sconosciuta. Fuggiti, i due scoprono che Nerone ha fatto uccidere per corruzione Anneo Mela ed Encolpio, essendone il nipote, riceve in eredità l'abitazione dello zio. La persecuzione di Nerone, però, continua.

Per vendicarsi dell'arresto e degli scherni di un medico e di un poliziotto, un mago illusionista si finge morto. Può così apparire al medico che crede di star facendo l'autopsia sul suo corpo, come un fantasma, terrorizzandolo. Uno dei più grandi e personali film dell'autore svedese: allegoria, tra sogno e realtà, dell'arte e del potere. Splendida la fotografia.
