Il film sta tra lo scherzo e l'esercitazione sulla paura: un gioco di ragazzi che si rivela subito una vera, sanguinosa corsa all'incubo. L'ironia stempera la tensione, ma il gran finale notturno è trascinante. Film "teorico" che ha rilanciato Craven e generato vari seguiti apocrifi e non. Nella parte del preside c'è Harry "Fonzie" Winkler.
