Greg Lake: Live

Progressive rock pioneer Greg Lake -- founder of the British group Emerson, Lake and Palmer -- performs 14 songs in this 2005 concert recorded during his European tour. Lake stirs up memories with classics such as "21st Century Schizoid Man," "Touch and Go," "In the Court of the Crimson King" and "Lucky Man." Backing up Lake are keyboardist David Arch, drummer Brett Morgan, bassist Trevor Barry and guitarist Florian Opahle.

McCoy Tyner - Guitars

Il DVD riprende gli artisti in studio, pianoforte è armonia e ritmo con passaggi di interplay, nella miglior tradizione di Tyner; il disegno melodico è lasciato ai solisti della chitarra, che personalizzano i brani. Con Scofield prevale certamente la fusion, con trame a tratti forse troppo prolisse. Con Ribot emerge un carattere più avant, che Tyner compensa con una base tonale chiara. Fleck dà vita a una simbiosi molto interessante, con un banjo non banalmente tradizionale che a volta ricorda il sitar indiano e introduce contaminazioni sonore molto moderne. Frisell introduce timbri quasi “new age”, fluidi, a tratti narcotizzati, basati su arpeggi più che su passaggi melodici; forse è l’artista con cui Tyner riesce a fondersi meglio, riducendo la separazione tra accompagnatore e solista. Con Trucks i brani hanno tutto sommato meno personalità; Greenslaves è un traditional riprodotto in chiave di divagazione divertita.

Never Ending Man - Hayao Miyazaki

Un viaggio cinematografico sotto forma d inchiesta, un vero e proprio film di ricerca in cui i preconcetti e le opinioni dei due registi vengono continuamente messi in discussione. Il punto di partenza è il cortometraggio _Det perfekte menneske_, realizzato da Jørgen Leth nel 1967. Lars von Trier chiede all'amico di realizzarne cinque diversi remake e, ogni volta, impone ostruzioni differenti.

Baraka

Dall’alba al tramonto, una giornata per viaggiare attraverso il mondo e gli uomini che lo abitano. Baraka racconta l’umanità attraverso immagini di qualità e classe straordinarie, accompagnate da un commento musicale non meno esaltante. Apparentemente privo di alcun filo conduttore, il film svela lentamente il suo intento: mostrare la disarmante bellezza intrinseca nella natura così come nell’uomo, quale essere vivente e quale essere sociale. La religione e il rapporto con la natura (due cose che coincidono, sotto certi punti di vista) sono le chiavi di volta nella comprensione dell’evoluzione spirituale delle varie compagini dell’umanità, anche nei momenti più cupi della sua Storia – l’Olocausto, la povertà delle favelas, la cementificazione selvaggia. Un’opera incantevole, emozionata ed emozionante. Come la vita stessa.
