Behind the Shutters

The doors of the abandoned Raverdy coffee and chicory factory remain closed, just like everything around it. The director – herself a descendant of the Raverdy family (and expecting her first child) – goes in search of the stories behind this sealed-off part of the city. She moves in with her 91-year-old grandmother, who lives over the road. Piece by piece, she is able to reconstruct events leading up to the factory’s closure, using old photos, advertising brochures, myths, language games, conversations with her grandmother and former female factory workers. These memories unfold through different storylines. The factory’s surroundings are explored through a poetic film style, and the history of the nunnery next to the factory is also revealed. This sensitive film is a reflection on the invisible and the forgotten, revolving around women and the changing body.

The Cohasset Snuff Film

In 2009, the small town of Cohasset, Massachusetts was rocked with tragedy. A 17-year-old high school senior named Collin Mason murdered three classmates. All the murders were videotaped and uploaded to the Internet via bit torrent sites and for three days, the world viewed the murders of these three innocent teens. Through legal action, the parents of the victims were able to remove all footage from the Internet and the town tried to save face by pretending it never happened. Bootleg copies of this footage are still passed around and downloaded through illegal means. The impact of this video is still being felt in Cohasset today. The video has become infamous, and is now referred to as The Cohasset Snuff Film.

Guido Magnone - L'artista

Guido Magnone disegna a mano scatole di cartone per la piccola attività dei suoi genitori. Un amico pittore ama la sua pennellata e lo spinge a frequentare le Belle Arti. Supera un concorso esterno, lo vince, fa amicizia con gli scultori César e Féraud, surrealisti, un pugno di bohémien. Ha poi scoperto la montagna ed è diventato rapidamente uno dei migliori alpinisti della sua generazione. Ha fatto conquiste prestigiose come la parete ovest dei Drus nelle Alpi, le prime salite del Fitz Roy in Patagonia con Lionel Terray o del Makalu in Himalaya... Magnone ha anche partecipato alla creazione dell'UCPA e sarà presidente della Groupe de Haute Montagne dal 1961 al 1965. Dal 1977 Guido torna alla sua prima passione: la scultura, per dedicarsi completamente ad essa intorno al 1990. Riprende ad esporre nel 1996. Nel 2002 espone le sue sculture a Parigi, Bourg-la- Reine, Aosta poi a Etroubles nel 2009.
