Alita - Angelo della battaglia

Dal manga è stato tratto nel 1993 un OAV in due puntate intitolato Tsutsu Yume GUNNM o anche Hyper Future Vision GUNNM, prodotto dalla Business Jump/KSS/MOVIC e realizzato dalla Madhouse. Originariamente avrebbe dovuto avere una lunghezza maggiore, ma lo scarso successo incontrato indusse la casa produttrice ad interrompere l'edizione. In Italia è stato pubblicato dalla Granata Press con il titolo Battle Angel Alita. L'anime, essendo una riduzione, è poco fedele al manga, del quale narra in maniera solo parziale avvenimenti che vanno dal primo al quinto volume dell'edizione italiana. Vengono infatti introdotti nuovi personaggi (come la cyberdottoressa salemita Chiren, o il guerriero Griuska), mentre altri sono totalmente rimossi (il Dottor Desty Nova, il mostro Makaku o il cacciatore di taglie Zapan).

Their traditional understanding of their role as women does not stand in the way of their dedication. They possess strength, beauty and dignity. Only in their most intimate moments, they are overwhelmed by desperate helplessness.

Federico, la fidanzata Laura e la cugina di lei, Caterina, sono tre giovani pieni di speranza, uniti da una grande amicizia che sembra indissolubile. I tre lavorano in un grande magazzino ma, quando Caterina decide di tentare la carriera musicale, date le sue doti vocali, tutto cambia. Caterina diventa una cantante di successo e Federico s'innamora di lei. Caterina, che però non vuole far soffrire la cugina Laura, finge di non ricambiare il giovane facendo mettere a quest'ultimo la testa a posto. Il film si conclude con Caterina che canta la canzone Perdono ad uno spettacolo.
