His relation with the reporters is conflicted and his own daughter is missing. The statute of limitations for the Case 64 will expire in one year. Then a kidnapping case, similar to the Case 64, takes place. The rift between the criminal investigation department and police administration department deepens. Mikami challenges the case as a public relations secretary.

The Goss family live on a farm they call the dust bowl where the wind blows during the day and the coyotes howl at night. When the train is robbed, everyone thinks that Cotton and Violet were the ones that did the job, but no one has any proof. US Marshal Lloyd Richland comes into town in disguise to find the truth and he finds that the sheriff is corrupt and that the Goss family is gosh darn nice. They take in Richland and a stranded woman named Mary without any questions. Cotton believes that Sheriff Tatum shot their pa in the back, and the sheriff is now trying to plug the boys. Richland is looking for the train robbers, and at the same time is keeping an eye on Tatum and the lovely young Mary.

Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai

Il samurai Hanshiro si reca presso la casa del clan Ii, che ha a capo il ricco Kageyu, per chiedere l'autorizzazione a commettere suicidio rituale. Kageyu lo informa che ormai accade sempre più spesso che ci siano samurai in povertà che fingono di volersi suicidare solo per poter accedere alle case dei ricchi per chiedere aiuto in denaro. Gli racconta così la vicenda di un giovane samurai, Motome, il quale aveva avanzato la stessa richiesta per poi rivelare di aver bisogno di un aiuto per curare la moglie ammalata e il figlioletto morente. Il clan lo aveva costretto a morire di una morte atroce perché obbligato a suicidarsi con la spada di bambù che aveva sostituito quella metallica venduta per bisogno. Hanshiro ascolta ma poi mostra di conoscere bene quella storia.

Tenchi Meisatsu - Intuizione del cielo e della Terra

Periodo di Edo. Yasui Santetsu è un abile giocatore di Go, innamorato della matematica e dell'osservazione delle stelle. Nonostante la sua inguaribile sbadataggine, viene ingaggiato dal Signore Feudale per compiere 'rilevazioni celesti' da vari luoghi del Giappone. Scoprirà con suo rammarico che l'almanacco adottato sino ad allora è vistosamente errato. Osteggiato dalla Corte Imperiale e da gran parte della classe nobiliare, inizierà un difficile percorso, che lo porterà a riformare il vecchio almanacco, sostituendolo con uno di sua invenzione. Il nuovo calendario prenderà il nome di Jōkyō. Yasui Santetsu è considerato il primo astronomo riconosciuto del Giappone.
