Ali, un uomo cieco, sta cercando di togliersi la vita quando viene interrotto dal custode del palazzo in cui vive. Viene informato che la polizia sta cercando una donna in fuga che sembra essersi nascosta nell’edificio. Poco per volta, Ali scopre che la fuggitiva, Leila, si trova nel suo appartamento. La donna ha partecipato a una protesta operaia sfociata nel caos, ed è sconvolta per la scomparsa del figlio di quattro anni, avvenuta quando lei è stata allontanata a bordo di un furgone della polizia. A poco a poco, Ali si lega emotivamente a lei. Desideroso com’è di fuggire dalla realtà, aiutare Leila diventa un rifugio nel suo mondo di immaginazione.

(Members confessed to a murderous sarin attack in the Tokyo subway in 1995.) We see what they eat, where they sleep, and how they respond to media scrutiny, on-going trials, the shrinking of their fortunes, and the criticism of society. Central focus is placed on Hiroshi Araki, a young man who finds himself elevated to chief spokesman for Aum after its leaders are arrested. Araki faces extreme hostility from the Japanese public, who find it hard to believe that most followers of the cult had no idea of the attacks and even harder to understand why these followers remain devoted to the religion, if not the violence.
