Solitary Road

Constructed in 1955 to initially connect Kiruna in Sweden to Altavatn in Norway, the work with the Solitary road was stopped for military reasons. Five small villages had been connected by the road and they were left with a deserted 20 km stretch in the wilderness. Along the road Sami people and finish farmers continue their lives. They still have the road and they have brought really old cars over the ice of Torneträsk so they could drive during summer time. One of the old men that built the road, Sven-Erik Stöckel, writes a letter to the politicians in Kiruna, asking them to finish the road so people do not have to risk their lives getting to the road crossing the dangerous lake of Torneträsk. Will it ever be finished? And what happened to the children that were born as a result of the road workers coming into the wilderness meeting the local girls?

Animusic

Animusic è conosciuta principalmente per due film realizzati in computer grafica, dove improbabili macchine, una volta avviate, iniziano a riprodurre canzoni. A differenza di molte altre visualizzazioni musicali, è la musica a guidare l'animazione. Mentre altre produzioni animano manualmente le figure o i personaggi seguendo la musica, in Animusic i modelli animati vengono creati prima con un software di modellazione e animazione 3D, e con un software proprietario sono poi programmati per eseguire la musica, immessa successivamente nel formato digitale MIDI.

Nitaboh: Tsugaru Shamisen Shiso Gaibun

Questa è la vera storia di Nitaroh, il quale in tenera età fu colpito da una malattia, che lo rese cieco. Sprovvisto di questo importante senso, il bambino venne ben presto attirato da tutto ciò che era rumoroso e in particolare cominciò ad amare la musica. Così decise di diventare un grande suonatore di shamisen, uno strumento tradizionale a tre corde, ereditato dalla defunta madre. Tra mille avversità e grazie all’aiuto di vecchi e nuovi amici il ragazzo coltiverà il suo grande talento, fino a diventare il celebre fondatore dello stile Tsugaru. Si tratta del primo lavoro del regista Akio Nishizawa incentrato sulla forza della musica, a cui poi sono seguiti Le voci della nostra infanzia e Symphony in August, che riprendono la stessa tematica in ambientazioni storiche e con protagonisti diversi. Il film, prodotto da Wao World, è stato presentato nel 2006 al Future Film Festival di Bologna.

Due ragazze completamente agli antipodi si incontrano in treno, mentre questo è costretto per via della neve a stazionare in un punto morto della linea. Unica cosa in comune che le lega sembra essere il loro nome e l'età. Entrambe si chiamano Nana. Ma mentre una è una rocker, all'apparenza dura e molto matura, l'altra è la tipica giapponese carina e sorridente e dall'aspetto un po' infantile. Le due alla fine si lasciano e ritornano alle proprie vite. Si viene così a sapere che Nana Osaki è una cantante che ha lasciato da poco il suo gruppo. Uno dei componenti, il suo ragazzo, si è unito ad un'altra band, molto in voga in Giappone. Affranta e completamente sola, va in cerca per la città di un appartamento e il destino vuole che capiti proprio nella stessa abitazione in cui si trova Nana Komatsu, la ragazza incontrata sul treno.
