Miles Jupp: Fibber in the Heat

In 2006, Miles Jupp decided to jack it all in and embarked on a trip to India in an attempt to become a cricket journalist. All he had to do, he thought, was blag his way into the English press corps and look like he knew what he was doing. In 2010, Miles told the story of that (mis)adventure in a show at the Edinburgh Festival, which received over twenty 4 star reviews. Two UK tours of the show followed, finishing up in London's West End. The book of the story was nominated for The William Hill Sports Book Of The Year. In 2014, Miles (who likes to think things over for a bit) suddenly decided that he wanted to record the show, so he dusted it off and headed to The Torch Theatre in Milford Haven and performed the show all over again in front of some cameras, some microphones and a very nice audience of predominantly Welsh people. This is that show.

Silence and Sunset

Contemplative and almost without dialogues, the film shows the routine of inhabitants in a city: a young woman who lives alone; an eldery that lives in the street, next to the river; a police officer; customers in a bar; two students. Little by little, through flashbacks, the plot connects these characters.

Murder on Amrum

Two policemen are stationed on Amrum, a North Sea island on the West coast of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany’ – an elder, and one who is several decades his junior. Life is easy, just that the junior can’t find a wife, because no young woman seems to be interested in the peaceful life on the island. All of a sudden, a wounded lady who turns out to be one of two bodyguard for a threatened witness who lives in hiding on Amrum, bursts into the police station and seeks help from the two officers. I missed some bits of the plot, but somehow, the second one of the bodyguards hiding the witness on the island has been killed already, and the second one, seeking help from the local police, was wounded in the incidence, and then she apparently succumbs, too.

In Search of Anna

Tony is released from prison and goes in search of what once was happiness: Anna. He hits the road hoping to find her and makes a friend along the way.

Lieutenant Kizhe

A copying error by a military scribe turns the Russian words "the lieutenants, however" into what looks like "lieutenant Kizhe". The Tsar reads the error, and wants to meet this (non-existent) lieutenant. The courtiers, eager to avoid the wrath of the temperamental Tsar, create a Kizhe to serve as their royal scapegoat.

Stop Making Sense - Il Film

This Is Spinal Tap

This is Spinal Tap è un falso documentario del 1984 diretto da Rob Reiner e avente protagonista la semi-fittizia band heavy metal Spinal Tap (con l'umlaut dell'heavy metal sulla lettera "N"). Si tratta di una parodia della scena heavy metal dell'epoca e degli stereotipi della vita delle rock star. Abbondanti le citazioni: Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, Aerosmith, KISS, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Sweet e The Beatles, insieme a molti altri. I tre membri degli Spinal Tap, David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, e Derek Smalls sono interpretati da, rispettivamente Michael McKean, Christopher Guest e Harry Shearer, che nel film suonano davvero i loro strumenti. Questo film risulta alla posizione 64 nella classifica stilata dal canale televisivo Bravo; "100 Funniest Movies". Nel 2002 è stato scelto per la conservazione nel National Film Registry della Biblioteca del Congresso degli Stati Uniti.

Il 1984 ha visto la tanto attesa reunion della classica line-up dei Deep Purple Mark II di Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord e Ian Paice. Era la prima volta che si ritrovavano insieme dal 1973. Dopo aver registrato un nuovissimo album in studio, "Perfect Strangers", i Deep Purple partirono per un tour mondiale. Questo spettacolo è stato girato a Melbourne (Australia) e mostra la band in forma incendiaria. La scaletta miscela nuove tracce dall'album "Perfect Strangers" con le hits dei primi anni settanta che culminano nel brillante finale di "Smoke On The Water". Questo è senza dubbio uno dei più bei concerti dei Deep Purple mai girati e un must per le loro legioni di fan.
