The Sitter Downers

The stooges are suitors who go on a sit down strike when their prospective father-in-law refuses to consent the marriages. The strike wins them fame and they receive numerous gifts including a lot and a prefabricated house. They win the strike and get married, but the wives decree no honeymoon until the house is built. The boys have some problems with the construction, especially since Curly burned up the plans. The eventually finish the house, a monstrosity that collapses when one post is accidentally moved.

Buster (Buster Keaton) sta goffamente giocando a golf quando ad un certo punto, colpito dalla propria palla rimbalzata sul muro, sviene. Proprio in quel momento passava di lì un evaso che approfitta dello stato di Buster per scambiare i suoi vestiti da carcerato con quelli normali del poveretto. Qualche poliziotto, dopo che Buster ha ripreso conoscenza, inizia ad inseguirlo vedendolo con gli abiti a righe e credendolo il carcerato. Egli cerca di andarsene, ma piano piano una moltitudine di poliziotti sempre più ampia inizia a inseguirlo. Una volta in prigione scopre che il prigioniero n° 13 (quello che gli aveva rubato i vestiti) sarebbe stato impiccato proprio quel giorno.

Table rivela di essere giunto sulla Terra per chiedere aiuto al fratello, in quanto Avo e Cado minacciano di distruggere la sua galassia, tuttavia tutti i guerrieri Z si propongono di combattere e, dopo un sorteggio, si decide l'eroe che dovrà combattere contro Avo e Cado.

Buster trasporta un carico di merci e si ferma vicino a dei poliziotti. Una bomba viene lasciata nel suo carro. Quando la bomba esplode la polizia lo scambia per il colpevole: comincia così un grande inseguimento di tantissimi poliziotti che danno la caccia a Buster che termina con questo che rinchiude le guardie in prigione e ci si traveste.

Sogni a occhi aperti

Buster è innamorato di una ragazza il cui padre però non ha alcuna fiducia in lui. Decide allora di partire e fare fortuna nel mondo. Le scrive raccontandole i propri successi, ma sono solo bugie: racconta di essere a capo di un ospedale, ma si tratta di una clinica per animali; di lavorare in Borsa, e fa lo spazzino e così via.

Fortuna avversa

Un giovane senza soldi è così disperato che tenta più volte il suicidio, prima mettendosi sotto una cassa che sta per essere issata in una casa, poi cercando di impiccarsi ad un ramo dello zoo cittadino: il suicidio non riesce e il giovane è inseguito da dei poliziotti. Quando riesce a seminarli si ritrova nel retro delle cucine di una ricca abitazione, dove vede una bottiglia di veleno in una dispensa. Senza farsi vedere dai camerieri entra nella villa e ne beve alcuni sorsi, ma scopre subito che si trattava di whisky: ubriaco, si ritrova seduto a tavola con degli aristocratici, uno dei quali gli offre un lavoro "per la scienza".

Prima dei titoli di testa, Victor mostra ai genitori il Super8 Monster From Long Ago, da lui realizzato, dove Sparky, travestito da stegosauro, è attaccato da uno pterodattilo. 2° film corto di Burton, sceneggiato da Leonard Ripps e prodotto dalla Disney, è uno spiritoso omaggio a James Whale e al vecchio cinema fantastico in forma di parafrasi semiparodistica di Frankenstein e La moglie di Frankenstein. Negli USA fu vietato ai minori di 12 anni non accompagnati. Horror in forma di favola, anticipa la poetica di Burton, vero autore con le mani di forbice.

Tenta quindi di catturare Jerry seguendo i consigli del libro, ma ogni tentativo fallisce e, anche a causa dell'astuzia del topo, si ritorce contro di lui. Alla fine, spazientito, strappa il libro in mille pezzi e tenta di far saltare in aria la tana di Jerry. Ad esplodere è però il resto della casa, e il topo rimane illeso.
