Demosthenes si sta godendo una bella giornata sulla spiaggia queer di Atene. Sta aiutando l'amico e aspirante regista Nikitas a elaborare un'idea per il suo primo lungometraggio, ispirato alle vicende di un cane. Due estati fa, Demosthenes si era dovuto fermare ad Atene per stare vicino al padre malato. Una scusa per incontrare Panos, l'ex che aveva preso con sé, appunto, una cagnolina di nome Karmen. Una decisione di cui presto si era pentito. Esattamente come Demosthenes che sembrava provare rammarico per aver rotto con Panos. Forse, però, le cose erano andate diversamente. Impegnati a trasformare gli eventi reali in un "viaggio dell'eroe", i due amici iniziano a mettere in discussione la regola principale della teoria della sceneggiatura – ossia, che l'eroe possa cambiare – e, nel frattempo, danno una svolta alla loro duratura amicizia.
