Terrorists in Retirement

Not just another documentary on the French resistance movement, this film focuses on one particular group of underground fighters in France: those from Eastern Europe. Many were Jews and all had fled their native countries before the war broke out. They were among the most staunch and fearless enemies of fascism, as shown here in personal interviews and memoirs of war-time experiences. But the most famous of these immigrants were 23 who were rounded up among several hundred Parisians in 1943, tried for their activities, and executed -- all were immigrants under the leadership of the Armenian poet Manouchian. After their execution, Paris was papered with posters decrying these 23 martyrs as "foreign communists."

The doc doesn’t quite move at the pace of Scorsese’s revved-up speed-talking, but it does offer some real insight into his productivity in the 1970s, thanks to an impressive array of talking heads. Included are Scorsese’s collaborators Jay Cocks, Mardik Martin, Brian De Palma, Steven Prince (who co-produced this doc), and his mentor John Cassavetes. Also the performers, who discuss his working methods in detail — Jodie Foster, Liza Minnelli, and, of course, Robert De Niro.

There were riots, attacks on asylum seekers' homes, mass brawls and hunt downs to those who look or think differently. It doesn't took long and the first deaths were to be mourned. The majority of the Eastern German population looked the other way or even applauded the deeds. A bad omen for the political development of later years. In six film segments, a team of authors take a look at the time reflected in interviews with contemporary witnesses.

Tom e Jerry in Grecia

Nell'Antica Grecia Tom tenta ripetutamente di catturare Jerry, felice abitante di una tana situata in una pinacoteca. Tom cerca di accedervi, ma viene scacciato dal soldato guardiano, in quanto i gatti non sono ammessi. Così Tom decide di entrare nella pinacoteca nuovamente e, senza farsi scoprire, continua a dare la caccia a Jerry, fallendo tutti i suoi piani miseramente. Nel finale il narratore dell'episodio spiega agli spettatori che anche nell'Antica Grecia si urlava, cosa che viene intuita con una breve sequenza che mostra Tom strillare e fuggire dalla pinacoteca prima che la scritta "Fine" appaia.
