Ritorno a Seoul

Freddie ha 25 anni, da molto piccola è stata adottata da una coppia francese che l'ha cresciuta amorevolmente, ma per qualche recondito motivo le sue origini coreane rimangono per lei un nodo irrisolto. In maniera piuttosto fortuita è costretta a trasferire il suo viaggio da Tokyo a Seoul, luogo in cui non riuscirà a ignorare il richiamo delle sue radici e finirà per mettersi alla ricerca della sua famiglia biologica. Al materiale filmato da Gast nel 1974 a Kinshasa s'aggiungono le interviste allo scrittore Norman Mailer, ai giornalisti Georges Plimpton e Thomas Hauser e al regista Spike Lee che vent'anni dopo commentano l'avvenimento. Più che sul Mohammed Alì della realtà, è un film sul mito, sulla leggenda, sul significato simbolico, sociale e politico di Alì e della sua vittoria sul nero Foreman che paradossalmente nel 1974 incarnò l'odiato zio Sam, quell'America dei padroni bianchi che avevano ridotto i neri a loro immagine e somiglianza.
