Life of a Mutt

Through seven scenes, the film follows the life and destinies of stray dogs from the margins of our society, leading us to reconsider our attitude towards them. Through the seven “wandering” characters that we follow at different ages, from birth to old age, we witness their dignified struggle for survival. At the cemetery, in an abandoned factory, in an asylum, in a landfill, in places full of sorrow, our heroes search for love and togetherness. By combining documentary material, animation and acting interpretation of the thoughts of our heroes, we get to know lives between disappointment and hope, quite similar to ours.

Dopo la morte di Francesco di Assisi, Chiara e cinque tra i seguaci del Santo s'incontrano per ricordare episodi della vita dell’uomo che cambiò le loro vite. Leone redige sul suo quaderno spunti e ricordi, aiutato dagli altri: da una giovinezza dissoluta alla prigionia in tempo di guerra, dalla scelta di rinunciare ai beni di famiglia per andare con poveri e lebbrosi alla vita miserabile ed eroica condotta da Francesco coi primi confratelli. Seguono poi l’incontro con Chiara e I'approvazione di Papa Innocenzo III - confermata dal successore Onorio III, affinché i fraticelli avessero una Regola - ed infine I'ultima parte della vita del Santo, forse la più dura e tormentata, quando percepirà che anche nella comunità da lui creata possono serpeggiare la corruzione e le divisioni interne. E’ il momento in cui Francesco si rifugia con fra' Leone sulle montagne, per meditare e pregare Dio, dal quale riceverà le stigmate, il segno supremo della santità.
